Now traveling to Brazil will be hassle-free for Indians as they will no longer require any visa to visit the country. This announcement was done by the Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Thursday. Along with tourists also the people visiting the country for the business purpose have been exempted from getting a visa. The other country along with India who will be benefitted from this exemption is China.

The Brazilian President made this statement during his recent China visit that the nationals from both India and China will no longer need any visa for visiting Brazil for business or tourism. The idea behind this move is to enter the South Asian market and enhance the number of travellers from this region.

There are many popular holiday destinations across the globe and Brazil is one of them. The tourism sector of Brazil is all set to touch the new heights and this new policy shift is the step towards this direction. This policy shift step is one of its kind steps that has been taken especially for the developing countries. Earlier, this year June, Brazil has also reduced its visa requirements for developed countries such as Japan, Australia, Canada, and the USA. This step was taken at the beginning of this year when Jair Bolsonaro came into power and became a Brazilian President. The nationals of these countries will not require any visa to enter Brazil for their stay of 90 days which is further extendable up to 90 more days. But in return, all these countries have not made any changes in their visa requirements for the Brazilians. This move has increased tourism to 25% from these countries as compared to the year 2018 in the same period.

In September, this year Brazilian President has said in UN national assembly that same policy shifts have also been studied for India and China. On October 25, the announcement of the new move came.

The dropping of visa rules will not only encourage tourism but also prove beneficial for the economy. The reason behind these changes in visa requirements is to enhance the tourism sector’s contribution to the national GDP and make it to around 25%.

If we look at e reports issued by the government, this South America’s favorite & popular country is the home for 4700 Indians. The maximum number of Indians stays in Sau Paulo, Manaus, and Rio De Janeiro. Not only this, but an all-round relationship is also shared by these two countries in forums like IBSA, G-20, BRICS and many more.

By providing the visa waiver, the main perspective of the Brazilian government is to stimulate the country as the prime tourist as well as a business destination. However, India has still not given any visa-free access to nationals of Brazil in return. The visa regulations of India for the people of Brazil are very comprehensive. India gives Brazilians an opportunity of availing their visas in five categories which are e-Tourist, e-Medical Attendant, e-Medical visa, e-Conference, and e-Business.

Not only Brazil but also many other countries provide visa-free access to the nationals on India for tourism.
