“Andhra Pradesh’s Energy Revolution: TDP’s Visionary Initiatives

In a landmark move towards energy conservation, the former TDP Government of Andhra Pradesh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri. N Chandrababu Naidu, took decisive steps to enhance energy efficiency in agriculture. The introduction of the National Energy Efficient Agriculture Pumps Programme and the National Energy Efficient Fan Programme marked a significant stride towards making the state more sustainable and environmentally conscious. At the heart of this initiative is the National Energy Efficient Agriculture Pumps Programme, a visionary scheme that empowers farmers to replace outdated and inefficient pumps with new, energy-efficient BEE star-rated agricultural pump sets. Under the guidance of Shri. N Chandrababu Naidu and collaboration with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), the TDP government successfully distributed 200,000 BEE star-rated pump sets to farmers. These modern pumps, equipped with smart control panels and SIM card technology, enable remote control via mobile phones, enhancing convenience for farmers.

The impact of this program is substantial, with an estimated 30% energy saving by 2019. This translates to an annual saving of approximately Rs 20,000 crore in agricultural subsidies and a remarkable reduction of 50 billion units of energy consumption annually. Complementing the agricultural focus, the National Energy Efficient Fan Programme introduces BEE 5 Star-rated 50 Watt ceiling fans, offering consumers an opportunity to embrace 30% more energy-efficient alternatives. Advocated by Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu and TDP Party Leaders, this program aims to reduce electricity bills by Rs. 700-730 per year, with a rapid cost recovery period of fewer than 2 years. Consumers have the option to acquire two energy-efficient fans on an EMI basis, contributing Rs 60 per fan per month, or outright purchase for Rs. 1250/-.

During the launch of these initiatives, Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the paramount importance of energy conservation. He highlighted the success of previous TDP Schemes, such as the mass adoption of LED bulbs post the Hudhud cyclone, resulting in significant power savings. Additionally, he proudly mentioned Andhra Pradesh’s distinction as the first state in India to embrace over 1.8 crore LED bulbs under the UJALA scheme, resulting in daily savings of Rs 2.6 crore for the government. Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu asserted Andhra Pradesh’s role as a pioneer in adopting energy-efficient programs. The implementation of the National Energy Efficient Agriculture Pumps Programme and the National Energy Efficient Fan Programme, he noted, would not only help manage the state’s peak energy demand but also contribute to making Andhra Pradesh self-sufficient in energy.

The introduction of these energy-efficient programs represents a monumental step in making Andhra Pradesh a more sustainable and energy-conscious state. Shri. N Chandrababu Naidu’s vision and the unwavering commitment of TDP Party Leaders have ushered in transformative initiatives that promise a brighter and more efficient future for the state.
