Microsoft Teams is based on Office 365 Groups and allows collaboration between people of the same team or the development of a specific project, sharing resources and whose main function is constant communication between team members.
Microsoft Teams functionalities
When creating a team in Microsoft Teams, a board is created. This board contains a series of basic functions, which today are:
- Chat
- Save and share files options
- Possibility of organizing meetings within the team itself
- Add files from different external programs that provide new features.
Microsoft Teams Chat
In the chat that is enabled by default when creating a new team you can have conversations with the rest of the team, name them, schedule meetings and enable new work documents.
The chat can be, both in group and individual, and allows the same flexibility as Skype itself (but without leaving the Microsoft Teams application). Within the chat it there is the option to include bots to facilitate the work and the solution of problems.
Create Channels
Within each team you can create channels and, in a practical way, differentiate different work groups within the same project. In this way, we can better organize the work within the same team, having totally independent channels, each of which with its files and its files different from the rest of the team to which the channel belongs.
External Applications
To each Microsoft Teams board you can add new tabs or tabs with external applications that provide new functionalities and give more versatility to the team, such as an integrated Excel, a Power BI panel, a Trello board, Word documents and many plus.
Teams meetings
You can also schedule meetings between members of the same team or a channel and, having Skype for Business integrated into the Microsoft Teams desktop application, it is not necessary to have to use other applications to enjoy a complete experience.
Some of these features (organize meetings, upload files, even create new channels and add new tabs and reorganize them), can be done by any member of the team.
Management Options
Management options such as adding new members, changing the roles of users, as well as all the configuration options of the team itself, are only available to the owners of each team, with a maximum of 10 owners per team.

In order to use Microsoft Teams, an Office 365 account with an appropriate license plan is required. The plans that include Microsoft Teams are: Office 365 Education, Business Essentials, Business Premium and Enterprise E1, E3 and E5.
