N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Transformative Speech and Tribute to NTR: A Turning Point in Khammam

A recent large public meeting in Khammam, Telangana, led by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Nara Chandrababu Naidu, not only showcased a transformation in his style of speech but also paid heartfelt tribute to the party’s revered founder, NT Rama Rao. This event marked a significant departure from conventional political gatherings, as he moved dynamically around the dais while elaborating on his achievements during his tenure as the Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh. His aim was to impart knowledge to the current generation about his invaluable contributions.

During his impactful speech, N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep reverence for NTR, the founding luminary of the TDP, and called upon TDP leaders to erect statues of NTR in every village as a symbol of honor and respect. He passionately recounted NTR’s exceptional contributions to the Telugu people, highlighting how he introduced a pioneering food security policy by distributing rice at the nominal price of Rs 2 per kilogram, a policy later adopted by both the state and central governments. NTR’s legacy also included the abolition of the Patel and Patwari system, the elevation of backward classes to legislative roles, and the introduction of the Mandal system, residential schools, and a single-window mode for investments. The public meeting in Khammam invigorated the rank and file of the Telugu Desam Party, with party workers from diverse districts converging on the event. TDP leaders and activists warmly welcomed N. Chandrababu Naidu at Nayakangudem and led a spirited vehicle rally through the streets of Khammam. He, standing in an open jeep, led the rally from Mayuri Centre to Sardar Patel stadium, a charismatic gesture that resonated deeply with the party faithful. Notably, party workers from far-off regions such as Jaggaiahpet, Nandigama, and Tiruvuru assembly segments in Andhra Pradesh also made the journey to attend the meeting, underlining the event’s significance. In speeches preceding N. Chandrababu Naidu’s address, TDP MLAs and MPs voiced sharp criticism of the BRS government. TDP politburo member Ravula Chandrasekhar lamented that the government had fallen short in fulfilling the aspirations of the Telangana people during its eight years in power. He went further to emphasize that corruption had reached its zenith, while also shedding light on the pivotal role played by N Chandrababu Naidu in establishing the genome valley in Hyderabad, a hub that contributed to the development of the Covid-19 vaccine. TDP Telangana president K Gnaneswar underscored the inseparable link between development and the Telugu Desam Party, asserting that the party had paved the way for political opportunities for backward classes. Khammam parliamentary in-charge K Venkateswarlu reflected on the prominence given to backward classes during the TDP’s rule and expressed his concern that this prominence had waned in present-day Telangana.
