In sublimation the liquid changes directly from solid to gas without going through the liquid phase.

So, what is sublimation printing and what are materials to be used?

If you have a good sublimation ink printer that can print high-quality of images, you can make use of it for sublimation printing on to fabric or other materials.

You can print these images on a sublimation paper with sublimation ink. These printed images, texts, or designs and then can be transferred on different surfaces like ceramic, pottery, polyester, metal or any other object that has a polymer coating on it.

Printed images are transferred to a surface with heat and pressure.

Then conversion process is initiated by heat and controlled by time and pressure for transferring the image accurately.

You will need a special kind of ink called sublimation ink to achieve this process.

What is Sublimation Ink?

As we have just mentioned, sublimation printing is processed by special sublimation ink. It is different than the normal ink used in inkjet printers. Generally there are three kinds of ink:

Dye-based Ink: It is used in inkjet printers but then can re-dissolve and flow through the paper.

Pigment Ink: This ink uses a small colored particle that gives color to ink. The ink is used in modern inkjet printers.

Sublimation ink: This is special ink which is used in sublimation printing. Made by heat press machines, this ink is used to transfer the photographic images that do not fade or wash away.

Sublimation ink expands the gamut of color on a surface and has a fast drying time. Sublimation ink is just one part of the equation and the other part is the sublimation paper. This is how all the process is done and this how the T-shirts and other products are printed through sublimation printing in Delhi.
