Empowering Women: TDP’s Visionary Approach Through DWCRA

In the pursuit of holistic development, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) under the dynamic leadership of former Chief Minister Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu introduced the Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA) program, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering rural women in Andhra Pradesh. The DWCRA program, conceptualized as a “Self Help Group” for the welfare of women, seeks to provide a systematic framework for the development of enterprises led by women in rural areas. Chandrababu Naidu envisioned a program that would enable women to build and sustain their own businesses, contributing to both personal and community growth.

 

Under the leadership of N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh government collaborated with Andhra Bank to implement the Pattabhi Sitaramayya-Self Business Group (PS-SBG) initiative. This collaboration aimed to provide substantial financial support to women entrepreneurs, offering working capital and term loans of up to 25 lakh rupees to each individual within the self-help groups. Notably, this financial aid is extended without requiring any security
