Daily Habits That Can Cause Skin Damage

Today, the environment is much polluted and our habits are becoming more and more ignorant that even the smallest cause can damage our skin. Here are some daily habits and causes of skin damage.

  1. Exposure to Sun-
The UV rays of the sun can break down the Collagen and the Elastin of the skin which can cause skin damage. This is because Collagen and Elastin are responsible for keeping the smoothness and glow of our skin. Another damage that UV rays can do is, it can affect the melanocytes which can lead to skin pigmentation.
  2. Formation of Free Radicals-
Free Radicals are the unstable oxygen molecules with only 1 electron. This is another way how sun can damage our skin. UV light helps to produce free radicals and longtime exposure can lead to severe skin damage like skin cancer and damage to the DNA.
  3. Smoking Habits-
It is often seen that the skin of smoker ages fast than a nonsmoker, why is that? It is because due to smoking the blood vessels started to block leaving a narrow path for the blood to follow. This lack of blood circulation results in slowing the regeneration process of the cells and this triggers ageing.
  4. Drinking Alcohol-
Alcohol leads to the evaporation of moisture, if the alcohol consumption is high then, it will dehydrate the skin leaving it dry. Dehydrated skin can easily be damaged and which results in wrinkles and dryness.
  5. Chemicals in Products-
Using laundry detergent and cleaning products it can cause irritation, redness, allergies. This is due to the presence of chemicals in those products. Chemicals like bleach and ammonia leads to skin irritation and can cause severe skin damage.
  6. The Presence of Chlorine-
The Chlorine water of swimming pools can also serve as a cause of skin damage. Chlorine absorbs the natural oil and moisture of the skin leaving it dry and irritated. Even taking shower after pool can’t wash away the chlorine completely.
  7. Drinking coffee-
Coffee is one of the most common source of caffeine. Even though caffeine is good for weight loss, brain function and memory, the excess amount of caffeine can lead to skin damage. Caffeine makes the skin dry and it leads to skin damage.
  8. Lack of Daily Sleep-
It is recommended to sleep for at least 8 hours in night. It relaxes the body and mind, and it also refreshes our skin. While we sleep, our skin gets hydration and in the morning we wake up fresh. But lack of sleep can cause skin dullness, dark circle and cell damage.

It is true that we can’t avoid sun or using the chemical products completely, also sometime is becomes necessary to drink coffee and taking a dip in a pool. What is more important is to take care of your skin. You can use some pre causes and some immediate remedy to make sure that the chances of skin damage is low. if you need to consult a dermatologist there are many dermatologist in Indore and other cities who can help.
