Boasted Recognition to Akhilesh Srivastava with CIDC Vishwakarma Award

Technology and digital means are the two things that are gradually creeping its way through the everyday activities of every person in India. Not just the common citizens but even the authorities and officials around the country are implementing ways to propel the notion of Digital India a step further. Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava, CGM (IT and Highways Operations) of NHAI is not an exception to this concept. He is the man who has been vehemently working his way to modernise the national highways across India with the integration of technology for an effortless journey of the commuters and to encourage the notion of sustainability.

Every person’s activities get the subjected encouragement when they are recognised. With the kind of efforts and strategies that Mr. Srivastava has put in the highway operations in India, his hard work deserved recognition. The Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) awarded him with the Achievement Award in the Public Officer category in their distinguished 10th Vishwakarma Awards on March 07 2018 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

Modernising the National Highways across India is what Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava envisions for the near future. He has been working strategically to introduce new technology for the smooth operations on the highways. Some of the projects that he has undertaken has already been successfully implemented and is operational around the national highways across India, the Highway Nest and the Highway Nest (Mini) to name a few.

We are all very much familiar with the concept of Electronic Toll Collection and many of us avail the facilities for an easier toll payment on the highways. This proposition and the project itself were under the strict supervision of Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava, who ensured to work and execute the project with finesse for a better procedure of the toll collection. Collection of toll using the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology was yet another intervention that he focused on. The FASTag technology, which has been made mandatory for every vehicle purchased after December 2017 runs under this very technology. With this process, the sensor attached to the specified RFID lanes in the toll plazas detects the attached FASTag stickers on the vehicles and deducts the toll amount from the linked bank account. This is what has lessened the traffic congestion at the plazas and also streamlined and made the process a lot more transparent.

Deployment of drones for a real-time monitoring of the ongoing projects on the national highways along with the Traffic Incident Management System is a few other projects that Mr. Srivastava is taking care of. Apart from the distinguished award that he was recently recognised with, he is also going to attend the 4th Annual Roads and Highway Summit at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Singapore from April 09th – April 11th, 2018. He has been cordially invited to be part of the group of esteemed panelists. Mr. Srivastava is also going to be delivering his thoughts and views on the OBOR (One Belt One Road) and Highway Modernisation for an effective sustainability in the conference on April 09th 2018.
