Why you need a Mobile-Friendly Website for the Google Ranking

Google’s algorithm updates reverse the search results and leave even the giants of the internet scrambling their heads for latest optimization techniques. However, in the last two years, Google has been updated constantly, throwing out and a special spotlight on nothing but the mobile-friendliness of a website. One thing is sure that Google wants your business-site to be more mobile user-friendly.

Hence, it begun penalizing sites without this feature-version back in 2015 and has twisted up its algorithms to the next level. While previously it was rarely about having a mobile-friendly version of the website on the internet, but, now, demands changed into mobile user-friendly website to be optimized to suit the whims of humans and search engine alike. Let’s consider about the three major Google algorithm amends of the last two years that prove “Google is castigating non-mobile-friendly sites”.

On April 21st, 2015, Google came up with its 1st update on the responsive website to strengthen the mobile version of web pages and bring higher SERP ranking to the sites that have optimized their websites for mobiles, called Mobilegeddon and is also popular by various names like Mobilepocalyse, Mopocalypse and Mobocalypse among webmasters. Afterward 21st April 2015, Google started criticizing all the websites that were not developed for mobile phones by ranking them lower. Instead of considering the business-site as a whole, Google has begun measuring each and every page of the site to test its responsiveness on mobile devices. In this case, the webmasters had to choose between responsive websites and dedicated websites. The mobile-friendly pages reached up to the ranking while the others were fallen down to a lower ranking.

On October 7, 2015, Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), popularly known as a Google-backed project was announced. It loads instantly and brings an easy and effortless experience to the users. Understanding the mobile reliability and the requirement of speed by users, Google introduced its AMPs. Its HTML is a like a subset that comprises of some custom features and tags along with a few rules. It secures the slowing down of the website due to the use of various analytics tracking systems and comes two path measurements, i.e., the Amp-Pixel Element and the Amp-Analytics Extended Component. AMP integration of any sites is very important in Google’s concern so that the user does not have to face any kind of trouble while loading site’s page.

On November 2016, Google launched its mobile-first indexing with an expectation to rollout in the second half of 2017. Recently, Google used to bring any mobile website’s rank by indexing the desktop version to know where the site would stand. Post the rollout of the mobile-first index update, Google would start measuring the mobile web of any business and according to the collected data from this analysis would it rank the desktop version of websites.

Website optimization for mobile devices, Google is tricking up its algorithms for humans before anyone else. It is 2019 and mobiles have already given a competition to desktop searches. Whether we talk about the Mobilegeddon update, the AMP integration or the mobile-first indexing, all of them point out to Google’s eagerness of a completely functional mobile-friendly website. So, mobile website design companies in India have to take care of the user-friendly features of websites.
