A Crane pendant is a part of the EOT crane which is used to lift heavy materials or objects. It is also referred to as a crane control unit or crane pendant station. The Crane control unit consider as a main part of the machine because in case of any break down the first person or inspector inspects the machine. The control unit is wired into an electronic machine that is connected to the overhead crane and hung like a pendant that is why it is known as a pendant control unit. The pendant control switch can easily move the crane in a particular direction like up, down, east, west, south, north, etc.

Working of crane pendant push button switch:

The main advantage of pendant crane control is that it is a wired system so there is no chance of external interruption. And the pendants are suspended from the hoist so there is no chance of accidentally dropping the control or misplacing it. The pendant control doesn’t require a charging system because it is fully functional on a wired system.

Since it is a wired system so there is a risk for operators who are sitting in the cab of the crane because if there is a heavy-duty load on the hoist where an accidental drop load occurs so will result in potential harm to the operator. There is another potential risk of fatal injury for the operator who walks alongside the crane to monitor and guide the other operator. In between this, the operator is at the risk of tripping, slipping falling onto the risky obstacles. Another risk is that the wire of the crane pendant control switch is directly connected to the crane which can be caught up in the machine that will cause damage to the control system as well as the other crane parts also.

Need of Pendant control:

Pendant push-button control or simply hoist pendant control are directly connected to the crane with the wired and it is used to control the crane from the ground level. To eliminate the need for a guidance operator another type of device is used called a radio remote control that controls the overhead crane from a very far distance. So choosing a wired or wireless control for a crane is up to you.
