VFX and Upcoming VFX movies of Hollywood in 2020

Earlier it wasn’t an easy task to create Special Effects shots. But some creative visionaries made this successful. It was a revolutionary achievement when the world’s first film was released. It was amazing to observe a moving sequence on the screen. It began with a few frames continued by a few seconds, then minutes and now at present, we experience hours worth of content, on the small & big screens.

Revolutionizing is the rule of nature, and it gets applies to the film industry as well. Initially, movies were mute, monochromatic films. Succeeding it, we had the ‘talkies’ with the introduction of sound.

After a few years, colored films were produced to improve the entertainment value. And then evolves a factor that has revolutionized the way we look at films today, and that is Special Effects /Visual Effects.

Today, the Visual effects (VFX) movies not only produce breathtaking scenes but also take down production costs, as many scenes/shots are created with VFX.

Currently, almost all Hollywood movies go for VFX(Visual Effects) to make any fantasy scene look more realistic and believable. And there are numerous VFX companies, who deliver unbelievable quality visual contents to their clients. In 2020, Hollywood is backed up with such impressive movie collections that will blow your mind.

Many Hollywood films with a huge budget and excellent stories, which are presented with highly featured VFX, are set to be released in 2020. Some films have stated their release dates but still have to begin filming, while others are in production but don’t have exact release dates.

The Grudge-(2020) is a horror film, produced by Taka Ichise, Sam Raimi, and Rob Tapert.

The movie is directed by Nicolas Pesce – an American filmmaker, best known for its work on films like The Eyes of My Mother, Piercing, and now The Grudge. The story of ‘The Grudge’ one more time converges on a malevolent ghost with a long memory. From the trailer itself, it’s clear that there are loads of special effects used, to make the scary scenes look realistic. It resets the 2004 American remake of the Japanese horror film Ju-On: The Grudge, both of which were directed by Takashi Shimizu. It is the fourth installment of The Grudge film series, which stars Andrea Riseborough, Demián Bichir, John Cho, Betty Gilpin, Lin Shaye, and Jacki Weaver. The movie is set to hit the theaters on January 3, 2020.

Sonic- The Hedgehog(2020), is an adaptation of the classic video game, that popularly induced the rage of the Sonic fans all around the world. The Studio announced that it would be updating the look of the character, which led the film to leap from its original 2019 release date. The film stars – James Marsden, Jim Carrey, Tika Sumpter, and is directed by Jeff Fowler. People are more excited to see Jim Carrey after a long time, who is playing the role of Dr. Robotnik. The film is going to be extremely entertaining with such brilliant star cast and incredible action scenes, most of which are carried out with the use of the VFX. The visual effects for Sonic the Hedgehog are given by the Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), Blur Studio, Digital Domain, and the Moving Picture Company (MPC). So, Get ready to enjoy the adventurous ride with Sonic on February 14, 2020.

The next movie with excellent VFX and action scenes is Bloodshot, which is an upcoming superhero film based on the Valiant Comics character of the same name. The film is being directed by David S. F. Wilson and is written by Jeff Wadlow and Eric Heisserer. The film stars Vin Diesel, Eiza González, Sam Heughan, Toby Kebbell, and Guy Pearce.

Bloodshot’s theatrical release is scheduled in the United States on February 21, 2020, by Sony Pictures Releasing.

The next movie on our list is Morbius. Morbius is an upcoming American superhero film that is based on Marvel comics- Morbius. The movie reveals how a scientist dealing with a rare blood disease accidentally turns itself into a bloodthirst monster – a Vampire. As the film is fictitious, there is going to be a lot of VFX work in the movie, to make the scenes look real and believable.

The movie is set to be produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is supposed to be the second film in Sony’s Marvel Universe. The film is directed by Daniel Espinosa, a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. It stars Jared Leto in the lead role beside Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson.

Hence, hoping, it would be an interesting movie and looking for its swift release, on July 31, 2020.

Another movie on the list is Godzilla Vs Kong. The fearsome monsters Godzilla and King Kong get together in an epic battle for the ages, while humankind resembles to wipe out both the creatures and get back the planet forever. As its previous franchise follows, the movie is going to be one of its kind – Getting the legendary monsters together against one another. It would be very interesting, viewing the presentation of the movie from its production houses. Both of its previous movies were incredibly portrayed with its excellent action sequences especially through visual effects.

Godzilla Vs Kong is directed by Adam Wingard and written by Terry Rossio, starring Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, Millie Bobby Brown, Brian Tyree Henry, Eiza González, Shun Oguri, Jessica Henwick, Demián Bichir and Kyle Chandler. The movie is also the 36th film of the Godzilla franchise and the 12th film in the King Kong franchise. It is also the 4th Godzilla movie to be completely produced by a Hollywood studio.

Godzilla vs Kong is listed for a release on March 13, 2020, in 2D, 3D, and IMAX.
