Suneet Varma is a popular fashion designer from India. He is known for his glamorous and timeless style. The brand is known for its meticulous craftsmanship, strong designs, unadulterated femininity and sophistication.
After acquiring his degree in Europe in 1986 he started working with Yves Saint Laurent in Paris. In 1987 he launched his first couture collection. He has collaborated with many renowned international brands. He is the only Indian to have worked with Judith Leiber, the world’s most renowned brand for bejeweled handbags. ‘Suneet Varma for Judith Leiber’ handbags are being retailed in many stores across the world at Judith Leiber boutiques in Paris, Miami, Los Angeles, Tokyo, London and New York. Every season his collection is unveiled at the Vandome Fair in Paris. His handbags are carried by many hollywood celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey and Bollywood celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, Kangana Ranaut and Preity Zinta.
In1997 Suneet hosted India’s first International Fashion and style program called ‘Suneet Varma’s Style Guru’ for Star World. It was a weekly television program which aired all over South East Asia. He interviewed popular fashion entities like Oscar De La Renta, Tom Ford, Yves Saint Laurent, Cartier, Damien Hirst, Van Cleef and Arpels and more. In 1999 he was appointed with American supermodel Cindy Crawford to co-host the launch of Omega watches in India. From the year 2000-2005 Suneet was appointed as the brand ambassador for Moet & Chandon. He hosted their shows, corporate dinners and promotional events in India and South- East Asia. He has designed wedding outfits for many NRI families like the Lakshmi Mittal wedding in Paris and shipping tycoon’s Chellaram’s wedding in Vienna. In 2001 and 2005 he was he was invited to showcase his collection at the World Economic Forum for the business community at Davos. In 2005 he was also invited to showcase his collections at Rome and Milan Fashion Weeks. He has done shows in London, New York, Paris, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Los Angeles and Berlin. He has also been commissioned by the Indian Government to revive the textile handlooms of Banaras and Chennai and sell those collections at the Hiem textile fair in London. Suneet has also been associated with BMW since 2007 till the present date. He hosts all the car launches, events and foundation projects. He has also designed the interior of the BMW 7 Series in 2012.
For the past decade Suneet has worked with the designers at Swarovski on clothing and interior projects. Every year he is invited to develop the Trends forecast for Swarovski products worldwide at its headquarters in Wattens, Austria. His wedding projects with the company were compiled in the book ‘Unbridaled’ which launched in 2009 at Paris. He has been recognized for his excellent work and been awarded the Designer of the Year several times by the Bollywood Fashion council in NYC. He has also worked as a design consultant at several brands in Europe and the USA like Calvin Klein Caroline Heirara, Nicole Miller and Donna Karan. He has also worked with several magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ and Elle. In September 2010 he entered the Limca Book of Records by creating the world’s longest embroidered saree for Vogue’s iconic event Fashion Night Out. The saree was 55 meters long being the highlight of the show.
