Icons have achieved legendary status in pop culture not only for their words and actions, but also principally due to their larger than life personalities. A lot of people have great ideas and great talents – but what sets icons apart? The fact that they are able to market their personalities and appeal to masses in a way that everyone drops what they’re doing and pays attention to what the icons have to say. Frida Kahlo

She personified strength, courage and empowerment and took part in various political, cultural and artistic movements. Her bold, iconic look consisted of crimsons and magentas, highly saturated. She was known for making fashion statements by adding bold accessories such as flowers in her hair, or by accentuating her well recognizable eyebrows. She always challenged the established and expected norms of beauty, and she expressed her personality through the use of lipsticks, make-up and highlighters.

Grace Jones

The multi-talented Grace Jones is the physical manifestation of the concept of perfection. Her biography reads, singer, songwriter, supermodel, actress and record producer. She has dipped her hand at, and excelled at numerous different crafts, and excelled in all of them, all while fashioning her place in the masses eyes as a style icon. She was born to humble and trying beginnings at Spanish Town, Jamaica, but rose to great heights in the course of a short time. She inspired many fashionistas who dominate the fashion industry today, and being a woman of color, this achievement looks all the more groundbreaking in hindsight. As a supermodel, she was known for breaking conventions by donning expressive and captivating makeup to accentuate her themes. Audrey Hepburn

The one thing that comes to mind when you hear Audrey Hepburn’s name is elegance. She is respected and held in high regard all around the globe. She was an accomplished actress, best known for her role in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and she exemplified several motifs of beauty such as beautiful deep eyes that spoke in its own language, dramatic eyebrows that accentuated her eyes further, and expressive lips. Another feature that characterized her glamourous looks on screen were her lush and curved eyelashes, although she refrained from using anything but light make-up.
