Hurdles In Engineering Education In India

It has been carefully observed that majority of the students aspire to pursue a career in engineering. Engineering has been the most favored educational degrees since a long time and this has led to the situation of forming congestion. Students across the country still aspire to make an academic career by doing engineering from the best engineering college. Though the country has observed a significant increase in the number of colleges than there were two decades ago, there are many problems and issues that will have risen and formed hurdles for the students.

There are undoubtedly many problems that an engineering student has to face, some of them are given below:

Skill gap:

The skill gap is basically the difference the certain set of necessary skills that an organization seeks or wants in their employees and the skills that their employees possess. It can also be defined as the distinct lack of reading, writing, mathematical or effective communication skills that are requisite for a certain job. Outdated curriculum:

The study prospectus must be modified in such a way that the curriculum must typically contain recent and updated technology based teachings. The world faces new updates every day and thus it is necessary that the potential students must get sufficiently acquainted with the recent trends and appropriate protocols in order to undoubtedly gain the necessary knowledge. The outdated teachings need to be updated soon.

Placement problems:

The ratio of a number of engineering students and the job openings has been extremely unstable and thus the number of vacancies have reduced. The availability of such a massive number of students has made it difficult for the companies to select certain capable individuals from such a large number of students. This is, in addition, another severe setback faced by engineering students in India.

Language barrier:

The theoretical knowledge is as important as the practical knowledge is and it is necessary the engineering colleges must modify their curriculum and agenda in such a way that a certain time period is dedicated towards the practical studies. This also happens to be the crucial issue faced by engineering students.

Less influence on the considerable development of interpersonal skills

The extracurricular skills are also of a enormous importance and in order to develop the student into an overall professional, the student must possess certain skills that would make them stand out. This is not just the moral responsibility of the college but the responsible students also. Most of the engineering colleges in Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, etc. have modified their comprehensive curriculum to promptly put more significance and sincerely dedicate more time-period towards the development of extracurricular skills.
