What is a drawing?

What is an illustration?
An illustration is essentially a visual representation of something written or described in words or numbers.
Illustrations are created to visually represent any idea whether written or described. There is no abstract element to it as in a drawing.
Illustrations are created and used in books to give a recognizable face to the storyline and characters. They also convey specific, well defined and well-measured structures as in reports or blogs etc.
There are various forms of illustrations such graphs, charts, etc.

- Drawings mainly deal with the feelings and emotions of the artist. It has a certain degree of fantasy and abstract element.
- Illustrations mainly convey empirical data, theories, ideas that have a specific meaning or can be measured.
- They accompany textual contexts.
- Drawings are art! And can be standalone art type.
- Illustrations do not have a standalone entity.
