Tooth Decay and Pain
Toothache can occur in any stage of like. Dental care and hygiene are important to avoid tooth decay and cavities and pain in tooth. Tooth decay which results in tooth pain is the world’s most common dental problem.

Kitchen remedies for Tooth Decay:

Clove or clove oil
Tooth decay can be naturally treated by a very handy kitchen ingredient known as cloves. Cloves help in reducing the pain of a tooth and its anti-bacterial properties help to get rid of the decay and prevent infection from spreading. People often use clove oil to reduce gum inflammation. Clove contains a strong chemical called eugenol which is both an anesthetic and an antiseptic.

Garlic
Garlic helps to ease the pain during a toothache. Allicin is a natural antibacterial agent that is present in garlic. It helps to curb down the tooth pain. A piece of raw garlic or rinsing mouth with garlic water provides a relieving effect. Garlic kills harmful bacteria that cause dental plaque.

Salt
Salt is very effective in treating cavities due to its antiseptic and antibacterial properties. Salt helps in reducing inflammation, ease pain, infection and is also very useful in preventing growth of bacteria in the mouth. Salt water helps in removal of the stickiness from the cavities. Salt solution has a property to balance the acidic pH which is created as a result of tooth cavities.

Turmeric
Turmeric is often used when early signs of tooth decay appear in a person. Turmeric provides relief from cavity pain. It has antibacterial as well as anti-inflammatory properties which help in maintaining the health of your gums and also prevent decay which is caused by the bacterial infection.

Ginger
Ginger is a very potent antiseptic. It is used in dishes as it enhances the taste of food. Ingredients of ginger such as gingerone, shogaols, and gingerols are very useful. Raw ginger has a property to reduce some types of bacteria in the mouth. Infection and pain is reduced with the help of ginger.

Cayenne Pepper
Cayenne pepper is a great source of capsaicin and is an active ingredient which really helps with tooth pain. Cayenne pepper has anti-inflammatory properties and therefore reduces swelling.

Thyme oil, tea or fresh leaves
Thyme is a kind of herb which has many antimicrobial properties and is commonly used in cooking. It contains thymol which is an antifungal and antiseptic ingredient that is supposed to be very effective in case of tooth pain and infections. Thyme leaves can be used in case of sore tooth.

Licorice root
Licorice root helps in keeping the teeth healthy and fight tooth decay or dental cavities. Extracts from the Chinese licorice plant can fight bacteria and reduce plaque.

There are two effective antibacterial compounds in dried licorice – root licoricidin and licorisoflavan. These compounds help prevent the formation of cavities.

Onion
Onions help to provide relief from dental pain because it has strong antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. It reduces toothache by killing the germs, which cause infection.

Vanilla, Almond, Or Lemon Extract
Extracts of lemon, vanilla, or almond helps in providing temporary pain relief during aching tooth or mouth. Especially, vanilla extract has very powerful antioxidants. These antioxidants help with numbing the gums around the affected area.

Other remedies may include use of baking soda, use of hydrogen peroxide, vitamin K2 rich oil, aloe vera juice, mixture of calcium and magnesium powders, wheatgrass, use of oils such as tea tree oil, oregano oil, eucalyptus oil, neem, bentonite clay, egg shells, fluoride mouthwash, acupressure etc.
