So let’s talk about French fries- the boon to all our lives. You might not have given a serious thought to the importance and the role French fries play in our lives but now is the time to rectify that. Treated as just a side dish most of the times, we fail to realize that the fries are so much more than just a side. In fact they are critical to finish a meal into a satisfying and well put together meal. For example a burger meal. If you are just presented with a burger and drink, you might enjoy it as a snack, but for you to be fully satisfied and well fed, French fries become an indispensable part of the meal. If you ask me, I am more worried about my French fries and their crispiness rather than the amount of cheese and patty on my burger. The bottom line is, you might be able to take it when your burger has gone a little cold or isn’t the perfect crunch and flavour. But if in any case your fries have gone cold, soggy or are less or more on the seasoning front, wars can be waged.
Now we all know, most of the places in India have fries that are too soggy, or spicy, or salty, or are simply closer to potato wedges rather than being fries. But we often manage get that perfect serving of fries, don’t we? Yes you guessed it right. The paradise of fries- McDonalds.
Now when it comes to fries, everybody means business and has a specific and well-defined preference. While some swear by the classic salted fries at McDonald’s, many eagerly wait for some seasoned flavorful crunchy fries. Here are three kinds of McDonald’s fries that can spark the debate anytime. McDonald’s has been able to give us many options to choose from and satiate our cravings for fries. The most vivid in my memory being the peri peri fries. Of the excitement that the shake shake fries brought with them was priceless. And then came the marvelous Mexican cheese fries loaded with cheese and spicy Mexican seasoning. But to be honest, while I was thrilled about the idea of both these flavours, the excitement kind of washed down soon (With a drink of coke) and I was back to craving those perfect salted original fries, that McDonald’s is world famous for. Nevertheless, a new kid on the block is always exciting and who knows, someday McDonald’s might come up with such a classic flavour that it might actually be able to replace the place my most favorite original fries hold in my heart. Although I highly doubt it given my undying love for these fries.
But now I am hopeful, after the launch of McDonald’s Flavours Without Borders campaign. The word on the road says that the new American Cream and Onion fries are lip smacking and do not over power the taste of the original fries with too much going on with your taste buds. Now as I hope for all this to be true, I am yet to try them out as I am very far from somewhere where there is a McDonald’s outlet, but I am flying to my fries soon.
